Oman and Saudi Arabia join hands for tourism sector

Minister of Heritage and Tourism Salim Mohammed Al Mahrouqi received in Muscat Ahmed Aqeel Al Khateeb, Minister of Tourism of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
As a first step, it was agreed to launch joint tourism initiatives, including co-operation in the field of promotion, marketing, tourism activation, tourism regulations, air links and seasonal flights.
The two sides also agreed to implement joint tourism programmes in the field of camping and adventure tourism, a calendar of joint tourism events and a programme to support small and medium-sized enterprises in the tourism sector.
Al Mahrouqi said Oman and Saudi Arabia are two important tourism destinations in the region due to their natural and cultural diversity.
He emphasised that integration should be strengthened and the capabilities of the two countries should be enhanced in order to have an important place on the global tourism map.
Al Khateeb underlined the importance of developing tourism relations between the two countries. He said that a framework for the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the two countries during the World Travel and Tourism Council Global Summit held in Riyadh was drawn during the meeting
